In reply to Ben's question, the expression "a stonewall penalty", according to Jeff Stelling:
In football, where an unambigous foul is committed in the penalty area. The prefix 'Stonewall' is used to highlight the obvious nature of the incident; stonewall being a particular type of wall used throughout Scottish highlands and other mountainous regions as they are really obvious and nobody ever walks into them, ever. Except the occasional rambling referee.
eg "The referee has walked right into that one! He must have been swayed by the fans here at Old Trafford. The player has been hacked down at the waist by a flying scissor kick just outside the six yard box but the ball has not been touched. That was a stonewall penalty."

Evening all,

Thanks for this PtP. I always thought it was related to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots, probably my mind relating to https://www.stonewallfc.com/ but it never really made sense.

I spent much of the 2nd half thinking about it*, as well as starting my xmas shopping (they're all get these this year https://fcumshop.co.uk/products/concili ... re-t-shirt ) and came up with https://x.com/bodsey/status/1716906394979631584?s=20 and https://x.com/bodsey/status/1716908320857153914?s=20

*Anyway, back to tonight's match, how many did we win by?
